Overall, versioning and variant handling are indispensable in the engineering of complex systems in order to ensure quality, efficiency and traceability and to effectively overcome the challenges of complexity and diversity. While “Version Control” is essential for the long-term maintenance and evolution of a system, “Variant Handling” allows existing versions of a system to be further developed or updated without compromising the integrity of other variants. In this presentation, we will demonstrate how a systems model can be described with the 150% approach using pure::variants (by pure systems/PTC) constraints. Through a variant transformation, 100% EA models are generated. These models are managed in Git Feature Branches with the help of LemonTree, as the “diff & merge” tool for those models. With the established approach of change management and pull requests, the model is maintained in variant-feature branches while the further transformations keep the variants up to date.
Historically, users have leveraged this functionality to automate various processes, such as importing lists of applications from a CMDB or integrating Excel lists maintained by non-modellers. I will showcase one of the most inventive approaches developed to date. This approach involves the re-implementation of the CSV Import/Export functionality by configuring Enterprise Architect to operate seamlessly with MS SQL Server. By executing this process within a single transaction, we achieve the highest possible performance while harnessing the powerful configuration capabilities of Enterprise Architect.
How do you know if your architecture is complete, correct and consistent? You've picked a modeling language and defined modeling standards, but quality comes from all of your architects following these standards and modeling in a consistent way. IncQuery Model Validator provides a rules based engine for validating your models for completeness and consistency to ensure your architecture content is ready to be consumed by downstream processes. Chris Armstrong from APG will be discussing how model validation fits into the overall model governance picture and Dr. Istvan Rath will demonstrate how Model Validator can be used to provide objective assessment of EA model quality.
Stop copying and pasting diagrams and instead embed live content into the tools that your teams use everyday! The value of architecture to your organization isn't in how they are produced, but rather how they are consumed by the various stakeholders within your organization. EA provides a collaborative modeling environment for your architects, Prolaborate provides a collaboration environment for stakeholders. This session will demonstrate how you can take your live EA models and embed them into the tools that project teams use for delivery: SharePoint, Microsoft Teams and Confluence.
With the proliferation of packaged software (COTs and SaaS), API integrations have become a primary concern for IT architects. This is where engineers are writing code and this is where data analysts need to understand data flowing between systems. Chris Armstrong will be discussing and demonstrating how to use the Rest API addin for EA to generate models from Swagger files and model APIs in a way that they can not only be analyzed but also implemented effectively.

This approach is practically applied in various architecture teams. This solution is an example of how to set up architectural content for a solution. Furthermore it demonstrates a number of building blocks and patterns that can be applied. The content of this sample architecture is based on ArchiMate as modelling language and Togaf as framework.
The idea of “1Repo“ is to deliver a market solution related to the current and real needs of information management. I choose Sparx Systems as a solution because of its flexibility and huge community. Also important is the issue of available third-party add-ons, which significantly increase the environment's capabilities. From many implementations of methodologies and the tools behind them (mainly Sparx Systems), one common denominator emerges - the success of implementing such a new environment largely depends on the readiness of a given organization to incur costs and awareness of the potential profits resulting from the implementation's outcomes.
